As Senior Technical Sales Support Specialist (Composites) you will provide our client’s customers with technical support and advice across their composite business throughout Europe. You will work to promote business development activities and research and development work.  In addition, you will manage product modification projects as they relate to the Technical Service teams.

Reporting into the Technical Service and Development Manager, you will deputise in their absence as necessary and may have responsibility for supervising a small team of more junior staff.

As Senior Technical Service Chemist (Composites) you will have direct contact with our client’s customers and distributors, including attending on site meetings. Your role will involve giving detailed technical recommendations to our client’s commercial teams, or directly to customers, on the specification and selection of materials and production techniques. Where necessary you will also work to address complaints which are highlighted by delivering technical solutions and action plans which outline your recommended course of action.

Responsibilities Include:

• Support the Operations function in resolving production and quality issues.
• Lead and manage product modification projects, providing formulations advice to aid in the scaling up of these new products.
• Evaluate, review and approve new products by assessing fitness for purpose, handling characteristics and robustness before product launch.
• Support the coordination and delivery of training and demonstrations to the commercial teams, distributors, customers and potential new customers in conjunction with other members of the Research and Development team.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering or a related subject.
• Experience in a materials based technical scientific role, ideally composites related.
• Demonstrable commercial awareness and understanding of the consequences of technical recommendations for customers, ideally within a composites environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of stakeholder in and outside of our client’s organisation.
• Project management skills.
